Making Space Invitation & Submission Extension
Since the launch of Libertroph Magazine, Alyssa and I have been moved by your feedback, submissions, and deepening connections with white anti-racist organizers and their stories.
As a new magazine, we’re leaning on relationships - longstanding and newly emerging - to help us get the word out and amplify our call for submissions. We feel mounting momentum as we continue to receive submissions and communications from folks who are learning about the magazine and tapping in. We’re connecting with new networks and learning about more white anti-racist organizing projects. As our call for submissions was set to come to a close earlier this month, we thought, “Why stop the momentum?”
Libertroph’s call for submissions is extended to December 15!
We’re hosting a virtual “Making Space” on November 1, 2-3pm ET. Sign up here to join us! This space is available if you’d benefit from reserved time to work on your submission, in a community space where others are working on their submissions. We’d love to see you!
In the spirit of transparency and inviting you into some of the momentum we’ve experienced, we’re also sharing a summary of the submissions we’ve received thus far. We’ve received over 20 submissions in a variety of mediums - primarily poetry, nonfiction writing, and visual art. We’re noticing some emerging themes of ancestral reckoning, discerning how to show up in allyship roles, and interrogating relationships to privilege and internalized racial superiority.
If you’re considering submitting, we’d love to hear from you! We’d especially love to see more interviews, fictional pieces, resources, and creative contributions, such as recipes or mediations. We’re also interested in stories of failures and recovery or repair. There’s an abundance of creative mediums to express the depths and nuances of white anti-racist organizing, past and present. We invite you to step into exploration and share what emerges!
We hope to see your submission or join you in Libertroph’s community “Making Space”!
With care,
Julienne and Alyssa, Libertroph Co-founders
